Shaped forging:
Special forging refers to irregular shape, not simple cylinder, cuboid and other conventional geometry forging parts. The shape of these forgings is usually a complex shape designed according to the specific industrial equipment, mechanical structure or product functional requirements, such as having a curved profile, special convex, concave or complex inner cavity structure.

Forging method
Free forging: For some special-shaped forgings with relatively simple shapes, free forging is a common method. In the free forging process, the metal blank is placed between the anvil iron and plastic deformation is caused by impact force or pressure. According to the shape requirements of the forging, the operator uses simple tools such as pliers, iron pressing, etc., to manually control the flow direction of the metal, and gradually forge the forging close to the required shape. For example, some shaft-shaped forgings with simple curved shapes can be achieved by free forging. However, the precision control of complex shapes in free forging is more difficult and requires experienced workers to operate.
Die forging: Die forging is a more suitable choice for special-shaped forgings with complex shapes and high precision requirements. Die forging is to put the heated metal blank into the mold cavity with a specific shape, and apply pressure through the press, so that the metal flows under the restriction of the mold and fills the entire cavity, so as to obtain the forging with the shape of the mold cavity. This method can accurately control the shape and size of the forging, and the production efficiency is high. For example, the connecting rod shaped forging in the automobile engine has a complex shape, a big head, a small head and a middle bar body part, and the dimensional accuracy of each part is high, usually produced by die forging process.
