HIC SSCC Flange:
HIC (hydrogen-induced cracking) and SSCC (sulfide stress corrosion cracking) are two forms of failure that are very threatening to metal materials in specific corrosion environments. HIC SSCC flanges are high-performance flanges designed specifically for such corrosion problems. HIC is due to the absorption of hydrogen atoms by metals in wet hydrogen sulfide environments. Hydrogen atoms gather in the internal defects of the material and combine to form hydrogen molecules, creating huge internal stresses and eventually causing the material to crack.
SSCC, on the other hand, cracks the sulfide film on the metal surface under the combined action of hydrogen sulfide containing medium and tensile stress, which causes the electrochemical reaction between the base metal and hydrogen sulfide, generating hydrogen atoms and penetrating into the metal, causing stress corrosion cracking.
HIC SSCC flanges offer unique corrosion resistance to these corrosion mechanisms.
The microstructure of the material is optimized to reduce internal defects and reduce the "trap" of hydrogen atom accumulation. At the same time, a dense protective film is formed on the surface, which can not only prevent the direct contact between corrosive media such as hydrogen sulfide and the metal matrix, but also alleviate the influence of tensile stress on the material to a certain extent, and effectively inhibit the occurrence of HIC and SSCC.
The manufacturing process of HIC SSCC flanges is extremely demanding. The first is the forging link, the use of advanced forging technology, strict control of the forging ratio, to ensure that the internal grain refinement and uniform distribution of steel, reduce the grain boundaries and other defects that are easy to become hydrogen atom penetration channels. Heat treatment after forging, accurately control temperature, time and other parameters, further optimize material properties, eliminate residual stress, reduce HIC and SSCC inducement.
In the machining stage, the use of high-precision CNC machine tools to process various parts of the flange, pay special attention to the processing accuracy and finish of the sealing surface, ensure the sealing effect, and prevent the accumulation of corrosive media in the seal. For welding parts, low hydrogen welding materials and advanced welding technology are used to strictly control welding heat input, avoid the introduction of hydrogen and excessive accumulation of welding stress, and ensure that the whole flange has high corrosion resistance.
